Why be like everyone else when you can be yourself?

Back to my regularly scheduled life

I’ve been neglecting my blog. It’s true. But in my defense, it’s been a long few weeks. It all started with a flu shot gone wrong. I’m not allergic to eggs or fish, but apparently my body does not like the flu shot anyways. After a slight trip to the ER, I learned I have great friends and relatives.

Then back to life.

Then a couple of weeks ago I got to go to San Diego for a conference! Yeah! It was even Microbrew Week there! Double yeah!

But then I was starting to get sick and spent every moment I wasn’t in the conference in my room sleeping. And when I got back it was a full blown flu (how ironic…) with a 103 degree fever. Well, the fever broke, but then the remnants gave me all kinds of infection since then, so I’ve been a little out of it lately. Still not feeling well, but at least I’m on the mend (I think).

But before I got all sick, we went apple picking at Lynd’s Fruit Farm in Pataskala. We got a bunch of Goldenrush. It was so fun!

From which I made my first-ever apple pie.

It was a lot of fun, but a bit of a pain to peel and cut all those apples. Thank goodness I had my Pampered Chef Apple Cutter. Those things are awesome!

So tonight I’m drinking lots of green tea and orange juice and made some veggie chili since it’s pretty easy. All you have to do is open some cans, throw it in a crock pot and turn it on high. Here’s to hoping my medicine kicks in soon so I can get back to my regularly scheduled life. People to see, things to do, muffins to bake!
